Teletherapy and Online Counseling | St. Louis and South County
"Give up being perfect for being authentic."
-Hal Elrod
In our digital revolution, innovation is ever rapidly changing our daily lives. Online therapy options are the new frontier.
Below are some questions you may ask yourself to determine if teletherapy is right for you.

Is comfort a primary need?
If you are anxious about finding my office and waiting to be called, teletherapy avoids all of that. You can have your cozy blanket, special mug, and all the things that make you feel at ease. Being in your safe space can help you feel comfortable and open up.

Is privacy important?
Teletherapy ensures maximum privacy every time. There is no concern of you running into anyone you know at the office. As well, my platform is completely confidential and HIPAA compliant.

Do you have a hard time finding time in your schedule for therapy?
For many clients, time is perhaps their most precious resource. Commutes can be frustrating and stressful if you are already prone to anxiety. With enough on your brimming plate, sometimes you can’t worry about one more place to be.

Do you need flexibility?
Often, those who need services the most often have the least time. You can schedule sessions outside of my office hours and can schedule emergency check-ins that do not require an office visit.

Would weather prevent you from making an appointment?
There is no expectation that you would leave your home in dangerous weather. With this comes no cancellation fees and we can talk, even when the weather does not cooperate.

Do you get sick often?
It is not uncommon for people with heavy workloads and many pressures to repeatedly succumb to illnesses. The ability for clients to continue working with their therapist, especially when not feeling great, can be highly impactful. Teletherapy makes it safe for both clients and therapists.
Is simple communication preferred?
One of the most integral components of my practice is Therapy Appointment, which is my scheduling, messaging and charting program. It also offers teletherapy directly via secure link. You can opt for a reminder text, email, or both and all the information regarding their appointment is at your fingertips. Having everything in one place is beautifully simple.

Do you sometimes go without a meal due to your busy schedule?
As a therapist to many people who are often rushing over from school, work, or other activities, I have more than once encountered a ravenous and tired client. A satiated client whose basic needs are met is certainly important. As such, one of the benefits of teletherapy is access to any of the needs that may come up for a you, down to a bathroom and the ability to grab a quick snack.

Do you live far away or attend college?
While a valuable resource, college counseling centers are busy and can take a while to get in. If you attend college in a smaller town, you may not have access to private providers or a car to get there. With teletherapy, you can schedule an appointment between classes. For more remote clients, teletherapy can offer you access to more counselors and services than your area may provide.

Rest assured, office visits aren’t going anywhere and can be critically important. But when traditional therapy is not an option for you, I encourage you to consider teletherapy. With more clients telecommuting, busier schedules, and the need for greater flexibility in our ever-changing world, teletherapy is becoming more common in my practice.
